One Big Happy Family

All our family members (both me & my wife's parents and siblings) had gathered at the Sunway Medical Hospital on Day 3 to visit both my wife & our baby boy ...

Me & my wife started off with our very 1st family photo session with our baby boy ...

... he was then taken away & pass on to his "MaMa" (Grand Ma) who has been waiting so long for this opportunity to carry the baby since Day 1 ...

... then to his "Yeh Yeh" (Grand Pa) ... his "Yeh Yeh" was having bad toothache that time but he is still smiling happily... haha.. from the way he holds the baby (just like meditation), you can see that he is quite nervous that time... haha...

... and then, back to his "Mama" again for group photo session ...

... he was then pass on to his "Ah Ma" (Grand Ma), who has been travelling with the rest for almost 4hr 30min to reach here from Sungai Petani, Kedah ...

... then to his "Beautiful Tua Kim" (Aunty) & "Handsome Tua Gu" (Uncle) ...

.. then to his "Ah Kong" (GrandPa) who has put on a big happy smile on his face...

... & finally to his "Leng Koo Jie", Penny ...

The whole atmosphere was great, like we are having a big CNY family reunion at the hospital wad. Of course, not forgetting the joy & laughter come from our baby's cousins (Chen Yuan & Chen Yin) as well ...

Introduction of our Lovely Baby Boy

After experiencing 40 weeks & 4 days of pregnancy, added with a lengthy 24hrs of labor pain & suffers, it has finally come to an end now, where our baby boy was born on Thursday evening, 17th January 2008. Both the mother and the boy are safe and very healthy.

He weights exactly 3.02kg & 48cm in length. Overall size is moderate & he has fair skin complexion. He has the combination features of both of us. Some of them say his eyes (when sleeping), eyebrows & lips looks like mother, while some say his eyes (when awake), nose & overall face shape looks like his dad. What do you think? More like dad? or like mum? or like both of us?

Baby in Actions

Most of the time, our baby will be active & aggressive at night, where he will summon some of his combo kicks, fists or his so-called "KungFu" actions on all areas of my wife's tummy. Fortunately, we manage to capture two movie clips on his actions, as shown here. Hope you will enjoy watching the show.

Baby Movement #1 (from top view) was taken at 7.30pm when we are busy watching a TV series sometime around Dec, 2007.

Baby Movement #2 (from side view) was then taken at 12.40am midnight yesterday, 14th Jan before bedtime.

Baby's 11th Scanning

Today is our 11th visit to Dr Jason Lim's clinic, which also indicates 1 day over from the estimated delivery due date that falls on 13th Jan. Both of us waited anxiously for the past 2 days & we were discussing about how is contraction like and if the slight pain my wife experience were actually the real contraction or just a false alarm. More over, we felt nervous & desperate to know how is our baby's condition when we waited for about 1hr 30 min for my wife's checkup.


Our baby boy is now 40 weeks & 1 day old. He weights approximately 3.37kg, only about 0.01kg heavier compare to the previous scanning. Dr Jason told us that the ultrasound images only predicts an estimated weight figure by measuring the size of the baby's waist with ± 10% tolerance. This means that our baby may be born within the range of 3.0kg - 3.6kg. The overall condition of our baby boy is fine. Heartbeat rate is measured at about 128 beat per min & his body is engaged in the correct position.


Dr Jason has also checked on my wife cervix's wall & to see if she has dilated. He then told us that my wife cervix is not soft enough for labour, and she has not dilated yet. He has advice us to wait for a few days more to see if there is any sign for labour, otherwise, he will perform induction on my wife to speed up the delivery process. We have taken Dr Jason's advice, and have also arranged admission to hospital on coming Wednesday night. After the admission, they will insert a pill to soften my wife's cervix, and the dripping process will start the next morning. Then, once the dilation has reached 10cm, there we will start the labour process. : So, our baby could be born on this coming Thursday or Friday!!!! My feeling now? Mixed feeling, don't know how to describe it... haha... I can just pray hard for the safety of both my wife and the new member of our family.

Bottle's Up!

We have also purchased some AVENT products like 4x 260ml & 3x 125ml milk bottles, 2x pacifier, a sterilizer, an electronic breast pump & some useful cleansing tools to back us up for the whole milk feeding process.
